PATRICK'S LIFE

October 1, 1761

At a case involving Benjamin Hamrick, who was in debt to Humphry Burdet, the court ordered a dedimus issue to take the deposition of Patrick Hamrick, an antient and infirm person (Prince William County Order Book 1759 – 1761. p. 320.)

Comments

Patrick would have been 77 years old at the time this court order was issued. (REF: 1683/84) Obviously, his debilities prevented him from traveling to the court house. A dedimus is a writ appointing a private person in to take the deposition on behalf of the judge.
