In the 1741 Election of Burgesses, Patrick cast votes for John Colville and Thos. Harrison. Under the candidate Thos. Harrison, his name is listed as Pate Hamrick. (Prince William Deed Book E. p. 524a - 524f.)
When Patrick became a property owner, he became eligible to vote. (William Waller Hening. Hening’s Statutes At Large, Vol IV, 1711 - 1736. Charlottsville, VA: University Press of Virginia, 1969. p. 475.) The fact that he was listed as "Pate Hamrick" could possibly mean he was known by the nickname "Pate."
